Licensing of Penny Cuthbert
Monday 6 June at 7.30pm at St Johns
We welcome Penny Cuthbert in her role as Transition Minister for St Johns. The service will be followed by refreshments.
If you are planning to attend this service and can help provide food, please contact Ann Deane, either directly or via the parish office, before Saturday 4 June. She is looking for offers of nibbles, finger food or small cakes to be brought on the night, preferably plated.
Elstree School Choir
Friday 10 June at 7pm at St Margarets
Once again, we welcome the boys of the choir of Elstree School to entertain us with an exciting selection of choral music and solo pieces. The concert will be followed by a glass of Pimm’s in the churchyard. Tickets cost £10 and can be obtained from Mary Westley or Ian Lowry. The concert is in aid of the church fabric fund.
St John’s Patronal Festival
Friday 24 June at 7.30pm at St Johns
The guest preacher at this service of Holy Communion will be Rev Derek Spears. All are welcome and refreshments will be served afterwards.
Summer Music with the Hurst Singers
Saturday 25 June at 7.30pm at St Johns
The Hurst Singers were formed in 1976 and are celebrating their Ruby Anniversary this year. They will be including songs composed during the last 40 years in the programme for the evening. Hurst Singers are a mixed voice choir whose repertoire includes classical, pop and music from the shows. Tickets are £8, children under 16 free, from Richard Purkis or on the door.
Ordination of Judith Ryder
Saturday 2 July at 6pm at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford
Everyone is warmly invited to support our new curate Judith Ryder as she is ordained as Deacon and begins her ministry with us. There are no tickets, but if you are planning to attend please tell Mike Smith so that he has a rough idea of numbers.
Patronal Festival and Welcome
Sunday 3 July at 9.30am at St Peters
The whole parish joins in worship for St Peter’s Day and welcomes our new curate Judith Ryder. Further details nearer the time; the service will be followed by lunch in the Rectory garden.

Keep the date free, and watch out for notices asking for all kinds of volunteer helpers.
The freezer is already open for business if you would like to make cakes early – contact Sabita Clark, either directly or via the parish office. Please also look out bric a brac, bottles, chocolate and toys.
