Sunday 4 September
The flat and easy route links all three churches by walking along the Thames. Walkers are invited to join at any point.
We leave St Margaret’s at 1.30pm, St Peter’s around 2.30pm and the new pedestrian bridge near St John’s at around 3pm. We will then proceed along the river till Sonning (arriving around 5pm) where return transport can be provided (please contact Mary Westley 9478382 to arrange). Anyone is welcome to drop in/out at any point.
Ride and Stride
Saturday 10 September
All three churches will be open for visiting by participants in the 2016 “Ride and Stride” event.
Sunday 11 September at 6.30pm at St Peters
Tonight’s evensong will be fully choral. The music includes anthems by Adrian Batten and John Rutter; the Collegium Regale setting of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis by Herbert Howells; and the responses by Martin Neary.
The Tadley Band
Friday 16 September at 7.30pm at St Johns
The Tadley Band is a traditional English brass band, formed around 1875. The programme includes selections from Cabaret, Les Miserables, Burt Bacharach and Elvis Presley, with other favourites from Walt Disney and Richard Rodgers, and the Finale to Sullivan’s Pineapple Poll. Tickets £8 from Richard Purkis or on the door.
Sundays 25 September, 2 October, 9 October
We will be celebrating Harvest on 25 September at St Peters, 2 October at St Margarets, and 9 October at St Johns. Watch for for details nearer the time.
Wednesday 5 October at Reading Minster
The new Bishop of Oxford will preside and preach at a Welcome Eucharist for the Archdeaconry of Reading.
Saturday 8 October at 6pm at St Peters
Joseph Nolan will be performing for us on the organ at St Peters. This is the second in a series of organ recitals to present our new 3 manual Viscount Classical Organ, following the superb demonstration by Philip Aspden in February. Joseph is based in Perth Australia but is visiting the UK to play at selected venues; you can read more about him at the Perth Cathedral website.
Entry will be by ticket at £10 in advance (£12 on the door), including free refreshments after the recital. More information on ticket sales will be available at the end of August, but in the meantime if you want more details please contact Mary Tucker on 07999 023825.

Parish Barn Dance
Friday 21 October at 6.30pm at St Johns
The parish barn dance features local band Inisheer and caller Howard Ballard. Tickets are now on sale from Sabita Clark (St Peters), Ralph Taylor (St Margarets), and Sylvia Purkis (St Johns). They are £8 for adults, £4 for children, £20 for a family (2+2) and are available in advance only. You are invited to bring your own food and drinks.
