St Peter’s Church is not only a beautiful building, it is also an
inclusive community in Christ, embracing all kinds of people from
tiny babies to nonagenarians, joining together in worship, in
friendship and in the life of our community. We hope that you will
find here a place for reflection and prayer, for praise and worship, for
learning and serving. Your contribution to the life of this church will
make a difference both to us and to you. We welcome you.

Ash Wednesday
22 February 8.00pm

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. There will be a Sung Eucharist at St Peter Caversham at 8.00pm that evening which will include the imposition of ashes. First, we make the ash by burning a palm cross, which is a symbol of Jesus' kingship; then we use the ash to make the sign of the cross on our foreheads, to remind us not only of our mortality but also of our desire to 'turn away from sin and be faithful to Christ.'

Nestling along the banks of the River Thames are the three churches of this part of the Church of England which form the parish of Caversham Thameside and Mapledurham.
St Peter Caversham is one of them.
Each church offers worship to God in a distinct style; each church serves their community in the most appropriate way; and each church yearns to draw people ever closer to the God made known in the person of Jesus of Nazareth. We are united in our mission and supportive of the independence which each church enjoys.
Together we proclaim that God's love is absolute, inclusive and available to anyone. We hope to have the opportunity to

"strengthen you in your inner
being through the love of
Christ that you may have life,
and have it in abundance"

Revd Dan Tyndall, Rector
