The MillsTones Dance Band were welcomed back to St John’s on Saturday 18th July.
The church was transformed, tables and chairs set out and a dance floor created for the evening. About 70 people came along to enjoy the big band sound. The MillsTones, with vocalist Tricia, played music from the ‘20s to the ‘60s. Numbers included George Gershwin’s “’S Wonderful”, Glenn Miller’s “Pennsylvania 6-5000” and Hoagy Carmichael’s “In the cool, cool, cool of the evening”. Dancers from two local groups joined the audience as they took to the floor to swing dance and waltz. A dancing competition, quiz and a raffle completed the evening. A great time was had and over £300 raised for church funds.
