Former Royal organist Joseph Nolan will be playing in Caversham as part of a UK tour.
His recital on the new Regent Classic organ at St Peter’s Church, Caversham will be a rare opportunity to hear a leading organist, acclaimed for his recording of the famous Widor’s Toccata, among the complete works of Charles-Marie Widor. The recital begins at 6.00pm on Saturday, 8 October 2016.
Joseph Nolan was organist to Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal, St James’ Palace and performed at Buckingham Palace on many occasions before taking up the position as organist at Perth Cathedral, Australia. He has made many recordings and is described as an ‘extraordinary musician’ and ’virtuoso’. This recital is part of a UK tour, including Witney, Nottingham, Normanton, Swansea and Chalgrove.
The new Regent Classic organ was installed last year after a concentrated fund-raising effort and plays an important part in the worship at St Peter’s, supporting the 30-member choir that sings at two Sunday services. This is a chance to relax and be inspired by the music as Joseph brings out the best of this wonderful new organ.
The programme contains pieces by Bach, Saint-Saens and Widor. Tickets £10 (£12 on door) include light refreshments tel: 07999 023825 or Parish Office 0118 947 1703.
