Mary Westley writes:

The sun came out especially for the Winter Ramble and we splashed our way through puddles and skipped over the mud with a spring in our step. What better way to start the New Year than walking through the beautiful countryside around us in the company of friends – new and old.

Starting at St Peters, a brisk march along the streets brought us to the entrance of Bugs Bottom, and after traversing this very special green lung we made our way up the other side to Chalkhouse Green, pausing to admire the far-reaching view. A steep descent to the valley bottom and a gentle one upwards brought us to Tokers Green. After a few yards we turned off the lane to wend our way through the woods to arrive at The Packhorse in time for a much deserved cup of tea.
