Over 40 children attended the event along with their parents/guardians. We spent the first half hour enjoying light-themed crafts, including glow in the dark slime making, star biscuit decorating, and LED light jars, as well as activities such as glow in the dark skittles and face-painting!
This was followed by a rather entertaining doughnut on a string eating competition. We sang a number of lively songs with actions, led brilliantly by our fantastic band – Pam, Tony and Samuel. And we spent a bit of time thinking about how Jesus identifies as “the light of the world” (John 8: 12) and how in accepting Jesus into our hearts, we can shine as lights in the world too.
In the ever-increasing dark world in which we live in, it is a powerful reminder to remember that light always overcomes darkness, and that Jesus has already done this through his death and resurrection. Our prayer is that many in Caversham would come to know the light of Christ for themselves.
