The Service of Rededication of the Lady Chapel took place on 18 May 2025. The chapel was built in 1925 as Caversham’s first memorial to the victims of World War I. Revd Canon Mike Smith led a moving service, which was attended by forty people. Members of the Friends of St Peter Caversham participated in the telling of the history of the chapel, the prayers, readings, and laying of white roses on the Memorial Desk.
A Fundraising Cream Tea followed the service and was very well received. It was the first, hopefully of many, events organised by the Friends of St Peter, who hope that more members of the Caversham community will become members. Details of how to join are at www.ctmparish.org.uk/event/fosp. The Friends of St Peter provide for the fabric and maintenance of this historic building for future generations. The Friends are looking forward to welcoming would-be members at the Parish Fete on 12 July.
